A Celebration Of The Classic Eggs Benedict

Eggs Benedict is an undeniable all-time favorite on the breakfast table. The trick probably lies in the egg or the hot and fluffy muffins, but don’t be intimidated. Creating the perfect eggs Benedict is far easier to achieve than you might think.

Traditionally, an eggs Benedict is made up of a halved English muffin, topped with Canadian bacon, ham, or bacon, along with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. It’s named after a retired Wall Street broker named Lemuel Benedict, who, in a 1943 New Yorker interview, was said to walk into the Waldorf Hotel looking for a hangover cure. His order: buttered toast, poached eggs, crispy bacon, as well as some hollandaise.

Every element of the dish is critical. The muffins should be fresh, hot, and fluffy, while the smoked ham is best wafer-thin. According to some recipes, too, there could be more hollandaise than probably necessary, but it’s quite difficult to make a smaller batch since one is emulsifying the butter. It can, however, be refrigerated and used much like mayonnaise in the next couple of days.

Many recipes aren’t strict about including ham, too. One can swap it for some smoked salmon or even some portobello mushroom. Another top tip: pair this wonderful dish with some Prosecco for a nice wine-and-dine experience.

Here’s a classic recipe to try from Food Network. Eggs Benedict is always a good idea, may it be a lazy Sunday morning or a brunch date with friends.

This Hard-Boiled Easter Egg Recipe Is Worthy Of a Detective

If you’ve been thinking about the mystery of the perfect hard-boiled eggs, we’ve got you covered. The delectable concoction below should be a great revelation and treat this Easter. Let’s investigate this must-try recipe worthy of your food-sleuthing skills.

First, you’d need 12 eggs for this sumptuous meal. Place the eggs in a saucepan large enough to hold them in a single layer. Then add cold water that should cover the eggs by an inch. Heat them over high heat just to boiling, then remove from the burner and cover the pan.

Let the eggs stand in the pan for about nine minutes if the eggs are medium-sized. If they’re large, do so for 12 minutes, and if extra-large, 15 minutes. Then drain. Shock the eggs in a bowl of ice water to let them cool immediately. Then proceed peeling the eggs as soon as they’re completely cooled. Otherwise, store them in the fridge for up to one week in their shells.

A good way to adorn your hard-boiled meal is to sprinkle chives and pepper on top. Keep in mind that eggs in shells should not be microwaved; steam builds up too fast inside and you risk having the eggs explode.

Spice Up Your Scrambled Egg With These Add-Ins

Making scrambled eggs is one way to enjoy the nutritious food. Scrambled eggs are incredibly versatile and when paired correctly with a few ingredients you can take them to another level of deliciousness. Here are some examples of ingredients that would work well with scrambled eggs:

Yogurt or cream cheese

o give scrambled egg extra creaminess, most people prefer adding milk or even cream. An alternative that might prove to be more delicious for some people is yogurt. Because of its relatively sour taste, it gives scrambled eggs a unique tangy taste apart from making them creamy. Cream cheese also offers the same creamy result. Just be wary of getting the right ratio so that the texture would be appropriate.

Tomato and onion

Known as Perico in Venezuela, scrambled eggs can be seasoned with sautéed onions and tomatoes. In most instances, bell peppers are also thrown in. What results is a colorful dish (Perico means parakeet in English) that is as delicious as it looks.

Sautéed spinach

People love adding fresh herbs to their scrambled eggs to provide it a distinct flavor. Spinach can also be a great alternative as not only is it healthy like some herbs, but it makes the dish an even more filling meal. To give it an extra kick add a tablespoon of crumbled feta cheese.

‘Tis The Season For Some Egg Nog

What would Christmas be without egg nog? The Yuletide season won’t be the same without this staple drink. Check out how to make your very own egg nog that your family and friends will surely enjoy.

In order to make 12 servings of egg nog, you’ll need six large eggs, one-fourth cup of sugar, one-fourth teaspoon of salt, four cups of whole milk (divided), a teaspoon of vanilla, and a dozen cinnamon sticks for each of the servings.

First, beat the eggs in a large saucepan with sugar and salt until the mixture is blended well. Add 2 cups of milk and stir. Cook the mixture in low heat. Stir gently the whole time. Do this until the mixture is thick enough to coat a metal spoon with a thin film. Do this for 15 minutes. Don’t let it boil. After the mixture is thick enough, remove it from the heat immediately. Add two more cups of milk and vanilla and stir.

Put in the fridge and wait for a few hours.

Before you serve the egg nog to your guests, feel free to add in a bit of brandy, liqueur, rum, or bourbon. Aside from the cinnamon sticks, whipped cream and candy canes are also fun garnishes to include.

How to make a parfaite French omelette

Unlike the typical preparation, the truly French omelette is a neat package of finesse and delicacy. The dish will have a silky-smooth surface with a moist and creamy, soft-scrambled interior that the French calls “baveuse,” meaning "runny."

Use a non-stick skillet to beat the eggs. Heat the pan, melt the butter, and add the eggs. While you can use all sorts of utensils (even chopsticks) for scrambling, we recommend a plastic fork to avoid scratching the pan. Shake the pan to whip the egg around, then roll the sheet of egg down on itself, pushing it carefully toward the edge of the pan. Then you can close the lip and flip the omelette onto a plate.

The challenge in making French-style omelettes is that they demand the most perfect of nonstick finishes, so it’s best to get a nonstick cookware and ensure that there’s a fresh coating per cooking. This is possibly the single, most important factor in French omelette success.

There’s a ton of options to jazz up your French omelette, from mixing in a tablespoon of minced parsley, tarragon, and chives to adding toasted caraway seeds, smoked paprika, or even a dab of hot sauce.

Keep in mind that chunky fillings (like shrimp salad, shredded short ribs, and mushrooms) are just heaped on top and not really pushed inside the egg. To do this, slice the omelette’s top lengthwise and put the fillings on top.
