Step up your eggnog game with these tips

The holidays are the perfect time for families to get together. Cooking and preparing dishes have become a staple holiday activity for members who are quite talented in the kitchen. Another holiday staple would be the eggnog. From morning lattes to night caps, eggnogs make the holidays so much better.

The four-ingredient winner

To make it kid-friendly, leave out the liquor. Home-made eggnogs are way better than store-bought. Making an eggnog requires eggs, sugar, whole milk, and heavy cream. The first step would be separating the eggs. Put egg whites in one bowl, and the yolks in another. Next, whisk sugar together with the yolks until it looks creamy and very smooth; try to achieve the lemon-yellow color. Following this is the third step which is to combine the milk and cream with the egg mixture by whisking.

The fourth step is to cover and place it in the fridge for about an hour. Before serving it, the fifth step is to whisk the egg whites using a mixer, putting it on high-speed to get the desired result, which is for the foamy egg whites to get from soft to stiff peaks. Folding the egg whites into the eggnog is the sixth step. Do this gently to give the drink a frothy, creamy texture. The seventh—and most awaited step—serve the eggnog with nutmeg on top.

Eggnogs bring delight in big holiday gatherings, and even in quiet mornings of the season. Making it from scratch brings a different kind of joy.
